Child Handicraft Therapy
Play is crucial to children's holistic development. It is an important medium for children to learn about the world and develop social skills. Whereas handicraft plays an important and unforgettable role in every child’s growth. It contains children’s joy, satisfaction, pride, and confidence. Compared with verbal expression, handicraft provides a safe channel for children to express themselves, making it easier for kids to express their inner feelings. This course provides an in-depth analysis of various types of children's handicrafts, understanding their different psychological effects, with the aim of exploring on how to improve the design of handicrafts. This course will also discuss on how to facilitate children in narrative expression through handicraft, such that children’s fun gadgets can be turned into effective children art therapy tools to enhance their psychological well-being.
Course Objective
Theories of Handicraft Therapy
Understand the basic theories of handicraft therapy, and the significance of handicraft for children.
Guidance of Children Narration
Master the techniques of guiding children to narrate and express through handicraft making, and basic principles of responding to so.
Therapeutic Effect of Handicraft
Understanding the therapeutic effects of different types of handicrafts. Learn to apply these effects to various therapeutic goals.
Design of Therapeutic Handicraft
Learn to analyse the needs of the children and design therapeutic handicraft in accordance.
