Art Therapy in Christian Spirituality

 

Religion is an integral aspect in life for Christians. This course delves into a crucial aspect of a person beyond physical and psychological realms: Spirituality. Students will explore the role of religion in life, understanding its connection to the self and the world, together with learning to use art to promotes holistic wellbeing in physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects. This course examines the development of views regarding spirituality throughout historical decades, with the objective of comprehending a more in-depth meaning and function of spirituality. In addition, spiritual health issues, together with the implication and formation mechanism of spiritual trauma will be looked into. The course design integrates aestheticism, core religion values in Christianity and Christian religious behaviours (for example: bible reading, hymn singing, prayer). and adopts the format of retreating. It provides a peaceful environment for students to tranquilize their mind, to reflect on themselves, and to focus on the bio-psycho-spiritual wellbeing; with the purpose of investigating on the use of art in creating a more desirable environment to heal spiritual trauma, such that spiritual health can be upheld.
